All these pictures are in fact from the Haifa tour yesterday. I will take pictures of class soon, but I want to get to know people a little better before I start pointing the camera in everyone’s face. 🙂
Below are pictures taken on the bus
First stop: The observation area of the Baha’i Gardens.
Walking to the gardens
View from the gardens
Bahai gardens and shrine. It is impossible to capture on camera how long and steep this actually is.
Ship in the Bay of Haifa
Walking to the market
One thing cheaper in Israel than the US: Fresh fruit and vegetables.
According to Tomer, our college tour guide, this is the best falafel in Israel.
But here’s the best part: Israeli candy.
It’s all made with honey, and very delicious.
Final stop: looking up at the Baha’i Gardens from below.
Bonus: After the break is a gallery of a few more pictures from my flight and the Airport in Rome.
Well, I’ve been in Israel for more than a full day now, so It’s time I update you all! First off, I would have posted sooner, but not until a few hours ago did I get adapters for my US outlet based electronics, and I needed to conserve battery. But now that I have them, I’ll get you up to date with all that is going on. Below is the plane I took from Chicage to Rome.
Below is the Rome Airport. It was much like a mall- much fancier than the Chicago Airport, until it was time to board the flight. Then they put you on standing only buses to the plane, out on the airfield somewhere.
My first picture in Israel Below. This flag is at the Campus.
Below is one of the Talia Dorms, another one of which I am staying in.
Below is the part of the group I took a campus tour with this morning.
Below: Part of the amazing view from the Campus. Prepare to see many more such pictures in the following weeks. The whole campus is on Mount Carmel, and has lots of breathtaking views of the city.
Below: Placement exam for beginners.
Another view from campus.
One of the malls
Market in the mall
Eshkol tower on Campus. I’ll give pictures from the top floor eventually!
First, some context for those of you who may be reading my blog and have not heard about my summer adventures. Over a year ago, I looked into learning some Hebrew, and started memorizing some and looking into the best way to learn it more. My final conclusion was that the best way to learn Hebrew is bu going to a Hebrew Ulpan in Israel. This is a class that is intense and accelerated, teaching people Hebrew who don’t know any. I received my passport in December of 2012, and at this moment I am sitting at the gates in the Chicago O’Hare Airport. I got here by bus, below is a picture of my family tying to espy me through the tinted windows as I departed.
And below is the view I have right now.
So as you can see, I am headed to Israel today, and I have a layover in Rome, Italy. I’m already faling into the tourist traps by paying $8 for the wifi to post this. 🙂
It is very overcast here in Chicago, so I’m hoping for some sun as as we get above the clouds later on. I had no problems with the TSA, it was all very quick.
Stay tuned – I’ll be making more posts as interesting things happen to me over the next eight weeks!
