Another update

I have been assigned to the printing ministry here at Fargo Baptist Church. This means I will be helping with the tracts that are printed. Jake and Sam were assigned to the Bus Ministry, and Dustin to the radio ministry.

Tomorrow us four will be going over to the Scheving’s to paint their barn. I bought some used clothes at Saver’s so I could not worry about getting mine messy. I filled up my printer’s continuous ink supply system yesterday so that I could continue to print stuff dirt cheap. I have been printing off stuff for class and it works out very nice. I also went to Wal-Mart yesterday and bought a folding chair and table, and set them up in the dorm. It looks very nice, and things seem quite organized now. We are finally getting completely settled in.

This morning, since Jake and Sam are in the bus ministry, they had to be out he door at 8, so Dustin and I cleaned up the dorm, since Bro Schatz said inspections will be on Sunday afternoons. So right now there are clean floors, no dirty dishes, and it all looks nice and clean.

Since the wireless internet still is spotty, Brother Venem gave us all ethernet cables and switches, so I duct-taped one from the port in the kitchen along the floor into the dorm room. It works quite nice, and I don’t have to worry about working 30 minutes to get the wireless working in the morning. It should be working completely in two weeks or so.

I printed off some coupons for our meal and the four of us also went out to Long John Silver’s today. It was a first for two of them. Dustin got a job as a morning stocker at Toy’s R Us, he will be starting Thursday. When I told him about applying at Menards, I was surprised to hear he didn’t know what Menards was. Of course, there are no Menards stores in Maine.

Yes, this post is not very flowing, and a lot of random info, but I hope it keeps you updated.

Nice day up here…

Well, it is Wednesday and still no internet in the dorms. Right now I am Arby’s to give you all an update.

My three Dorm Roommates are Dustin, Jake, and Sam. Dustin has a car as do I, but the other two ride around with us. The showers were freezing cold every morning until today when they fixed it, so now I won’t wake up as fast in the mornings. Paid for my food here at Arby’s in gold dollars, and the cashier was really impressed and told his supervisor he wanted to buy them from his drawer. He was even more excited when I told him they were uncirculated.

More frequent posting when I get the net, but for now I will talk to you all later.

First post from Fargo, ND

Here I am in beautiful Fargo, ND.

Any guess where I am? Well, right now I am at Culver’s. The internet in the dorm won’t be set up until Monday, so I cam here with my dorm-mate Sam to use our laptops. So far I have go a job application in, as well as checked up on the news.

I also went this morning to the grocery store for some milk, orange juice and cereal. ended up getting 5 boxes of cereal for only 7 dollars. Good so far on finances!

Getting good deals on eBay- The sneaky way!

I do quite a bit of buying on ebay. It is often the first place I look to find a good deal. I have known for many years about people using sites to bid in the last few seconds for them, but never really went to that extreme. But now I have. I was looking for a good add on to firefox for ebay when I found one for the site

The program is actually called an “auction sniper” So this add-on adds a little icon in every ebay page that says “snipe this”, and when you do so it has you enter a bid. Six seconds prior to the end of the aution it will put in your bid. By then it is too late for someone to outbid you.

Ebay logoOf course, if other people used ebay the way ebay wanted them to, the program won’t work. Ebay says to put in the highest amount you are willing to pay, and it will automatically bid up to that amount for you. So if your co-bidders put in their max bid, and it is higher than your snipe, than you still won’t get the item. However, a large portion of ebay bidders just bid the minimum bid and hope it will stay. If they get outbid, they may increase their bid. These are the people this program will outsmart.

I have used this for a day so far, and it has been working great for me!

I Like Statistics

If you ever were to ask me what my least favourite school subject is, you would always receive the same answer. Math. I never could enjoy math, whether it be multiplying three digit numbers or extracting square roots. However, for some reason I cannot get enough of statistics.

Just looking at this chart makes me happy.

I think it may have started with my interest in politics. During the 2008 elections I would check the latest polls on the Senators and Presidential candidates daily. Even since the daily tracking polls keep my interest. I also liked looking at charts of how global warming is a fraud. I am excited to see information from the 2010 census, now that’s entertainment.

Charts and graphs are two of my choice ways to view statistics. Since I was 10 I have filled notebook after notebook with line charts detailing the rise and fall of non-existent companies (with captivating storyline taking place in my head.) I have made a few programs that generate charts based on data entered in them. I made charts showing who won more games in Uno with my sister Amber, along with average cards left in opponents hand, and number of cards played each game.

When it comes to the internet, I have always liked looking at statistics of websites. I like checking the stats here on my blog, as well as the stats of the Times-Script website. I also like to check out the most visited websites on the internet, and the top browsers by market share.

When it came time for me to get a Christmas gift, there was one book I requested (and loved.) The top 10 of everything. Now as for what I will do with my interest in statistics, I am not sure. Careers in statistics seem to involve an awful lot of math…
