The Great School Supply Escapade of 2013 (Includes car covered in Post-its!)

I was perusing one of my favorite websites for good deals on Saturday, and found that there was a big school supply sale going on at Best Buy- where almost everything was 50 cents. I stopped by, and to my surprise the area was untouched! I grabbed up tens of dozens of items and loaded up a few bags. Below are two out of the three pages of receipt that I got. Notice the final price – $63.21 – and the amount saved $925.00!!!PostIt56 PostIt55

Here is a look at the load I brought back – note the packs of yellow post its – Those are 10 packs of 90 super sticky notes with MRSP of over $14.00 each! And yes, they were 50 cents.PostIt02On Monday after the church picnic and softball game, I decided it was time to put some of the post-its to good use. So I orchestrated a massive vehicle post-itification. Those participating other than myself were Janek Burton, Jake Alexander, Ryan O’Leary, Barbara Burkholder, Joshua Griffin, Lucas Iforgothislastname, and some others who stopped by for a little bit to help out. The vehicle belongs to dear Amanda Hooper, and I hear she took it all in stride when she discovered the decoration.

PostIt31 PostIt24 PostIt12However, before she had a chance to discover it, things went from good to best, when it began to rain about an hour later. The notes are the more expensive super sticky kind, so the rain didn’t knock them off, it just paper-mache’d them to Amanda’s car.

PostIt46 PostIt47 PostIt49I still have enough post its for three more cars (We used over 3,000 Post-its for this one) so look out freshmen next year!

Another update

I have been assigned to the printing ministry here at Fargo Baptist Church. This means I will be helping with the tracts that are printed. Jake and Sam were assigned to the Bus Ministry, and Dustin to the radio ministry.

Tomorrow us four will be going over to the Scheving’s to paint their barn. I bought some used clothes at Saver’s so I could not worry about getting mine messy. I filled up my printer’s continuous ink supply system yesterday so that I could continue to print stuff dirt cheap. I have been printing off stuff for class and it works out very nice. I also went to Wal-Mart yesterday and bought a folding chair and table, and set them up in the dorm. It looks very nice, and things seem quite organized now. We are finally getting completely settled in.

This morning, since Jake and Sam are in the bus ministry, they had to be out he door at 8, so Dustin and I cleaned up the dorm, since Bro Schatz said inspections will be on Sunday afternoons. So right now there are clean floors, no dirty dishes, and it all looks nice and clean.

Since the wireless internet still is spotty, Brother Venem gave us all ethernet cables and switches, so I duct-taped one from the port in the kitchen along the floor into the dorm room. It works quite nice, and I don’t have to worry about working 30 minutes to get the wireless working in the morning. It should be working completely in two weeks or so.

I printed off some coupons for our meal and the four of us also went out to Long John Silver’s today. It was a first for two of them. Dustin got a job as a morning stocker at Toy’s R Us, he will be starting Thursday. When I told him about applying at Menards, I was surprised to hear he didn’t know what Menards was. Of course, there are no Menards stores in Maine.

Yes, this post is not very flowing, and a lot of random info, but I hope it keeps you updated.

Life goes on…

Classes have been going well, job search is still on. I did get my cell phone in the mail today. My cell phone number (on which I have unlimited talk/text/web is (701)-200-55<four>7 (the strange four is to keep from getting spammy texts) Been doing some random driving around Fargo and Moorhead, MN, just to find new places. I drive without a map, and get in all kinds of places, and go back by a different route. I always seem to get back just fine when i keep heading in the right direction.

My address is

Thanks for reading!

Nice day up here…

Well, it is Wednesday and still no internet in the dorms. Right now I am Arby’s to give you all an update.

My three Dorm Roommates are Dustin, Jake, and Sam. Dustin has a car as do I, but the other two ride around with us. The showers were freezing cold every morning until today when they fixed it, so now I won’t wake up as fast in the mornings. Paid for my food here at Arby’s in gold dollars, and the cashier was really impressed and told his supervisor he wanted to buy them from his drawer. He was even more excited when I told him they were uncirculated.

More frequent posting when I get the net, but for now I will talk to you all later.

My book of uncut, perforated $2 bills

Below is the listing for the ebay auction I just sold them wit. Going price was $110 + $8 shipping.

Up for sale is a one-of-a-kind booklet of perforated $2 bills. The booklet contains Eight (8) sheets of four two dollar bills each. This booklet is great for any currency collection, but is also a lot of fun to use for real purchases, as the $2 bill is perfectly legal tender!

There are a total of 32 bills, with a face value alone of $64!

The perforation makes it easy to tear out a bill and hand it to a surprised cashier or waitress. The booklet is bound with a cardstock quality cover and a cardboard back cover.

Look at the images to see close-ups of the location of the perforation.

Happy bidding and good luck!

Keep on the lookout for these valuable coins

Maybe you have some of these in your personal collection, or perhaps there are some at your bank, just waiting to be purchased at face value!

1964 Kennedy half dollar
1964 half dollarAt 90% silver, the value of this coin is closely pegged to the value of silver. As of April 1st, 2011, the value of this coin is ~$13.68 – a good return on the 50 cents face value! Also keep on the look out for the 1965-1970 Kennedy half dollars they are 40 cents and today worth ~$5.59. The condition of the coin is rarely important, a very nice coin (uncirculated) may get you a slightly better price, but a badly worn coin will still have the silver value, so it should sell for the silver price.

1942-1945 Nickel
When silver prices started skyrocketing, all the dimes and quarters from before 1965 quickly disappeared from circulating currency as collectors grabbed them and the US Mint removed them as well. However, nickels had silver in them for a few years during World War II. The 1943-1945 nickels were 35% silver, and many 1942 ones were as well. ~$2.12 is what one of these would net you, more than forty times the face value.

Silver values constantly fluctuate, so make sure to check them out before you make a deal. The best site for silver coin values is, with real time silver values.
